In September 2018, Ronald McDonald House Charities Fiji introduced one of the core RMHC programs to Fiji: a Ronald McDonald Family Room, which is situated at the Pediatrics Department (Level 2) of the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room program provides families and caregivers of children at the Pediatrics Wards, with care and resources to keep them strong so they can better support their ill or injured child.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room will be a ‘home away from home’ at a time when families need comfort and support more than ever. Families can focus on supporting each other and help provide comfort for their children. The Ronald McDonald Family Room offers a comfortable home-like environment within hospital walls, where parents can sort out everyday practicalities, while still remaining close to their child on the ward.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room opens daily from 7am – 10pm. All visitors are to register at the reception before using the facilities at the room. Our friendly staff will be on hand to assist.
Families can comfortably enjoy their meals in the Ronald McDonald Family Room dining area. The dining area can comfortably sit up to 20 people with a television. High chairs for the little ones can be requested.
Families are to clean up after their meals.
Have some peace and quiet in the rest area. A place that families could catch up or take a rest. Recliners are available if parents or caregivers wanted to take a nap.
Laundry Facilities which includes a washing machine & dryer are also available for use. Bookings must be made in advance with the family room staff. There is a cost for laundry powder only.
A play area with toys and books are available for the little ones. Parent supervision is compulsory at all times.
